A REPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF A GIRL CHILD, ON THE 11TH OF OCTOBER 2023, AT GHS BOLIFAMA MILE 16, BUEA. ORGANIZED BY WIVADEV IN
PARTNERSHIP WITH USA
THEME: DIGITAL GENERATION, OUR GENERATION.

The event took place On the 11th of October, 2023 at 1pm. It was organized by WIVADEV (Women Imparting Values for Development) in partnership with USA (United Sisters Association). Present were representatives from WIVADEV, USA, GHS Bolifama and a group of young girls from the local community.

A few girls were given the chance to speak about the adverse effect experienced by girls in this community, as well as potential solutions. These issues included instances of girls falling into drug addiction, facing unwanted pregnancies and more. As for the solutions, some of them touched upon the importance of parents fulfilling their responsibilities towards their children, while also emphasizing the need for a collective effort to create a platform that raises awareness regarding the consequences of choices made by girls.

In an effort to address the situation, the United Sisters Association has partnered with WIVADEV and introduce a scholarship program. This program aims to support the education of 25 girls, with 10scholarship offered to primary pupils and 15scholarship offered to secondary school students. The scholarship took a total of 750,000frs for the entire program.
In conclusion, the scholarship program successfully selected four girls from this group. This achievement highlights the potential to create a brighter future for young women through our collective effort.
