Empowering Students, Protecting Our Future: 120 Students Sensitized at New Horizon International School

LARDIN Sensitizes 120 Students at New Horizon International School, Limbe.

On 25 September 2026, the Legacy Action and Royal Development Initiatives (LARDIN) conducted an interactive sensitization session at New Horizon International School, Limbe, engaging 120 Form 4 Science students from 6:50 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

The session provided a platform for students to learn, ask questions, share perspectives, and reflect on issues that directly affect their lives, families, schools, and communities.

Key Issues Addressed.

The sensitization focused on five important areas:

  1. Waste Management and Waste Segregation
  2. Child Protection
  3. Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
  4. Ending Femicide
  5. Empowering the Girl Child

Through interactive discussions and educational materials, students were encouraged to take greater responsibility for their environment, understand and protect their rights, speak out against violence, and become positive agents of change within their communities.

Strengthening Partnerships for Young People.

During the engagement, LARDIN also introduced its Empower Her Future project to the school administration, creating opportunities for continued collaboration and meaningful initiatives that can benefit students.

The visit further identified opportunities for LARDIN to collaborate with the school’s Environmental Club on future environmental awareness and waste management activities.

As a practical step towards promoting responsible waste management, LARDIN presented a trash bag to the Principal to support waste segregation within the school.

A Meaningful Engagement Despite the Rain.

Despite the morning rain and the limited time available due to the school’s schedule, the session successfully created an important space for dialogue, learning, and awareness.

LARDIN extends its sincere appreciation to the Principal, Guidance and Counselling Officer, Form 4 Science Teacher, and the students for welcoming the team and participating actively throughout the session.

At LARDIN, we believe that education is a powerful tool for prevention, protection, empowerment, and sustainable community development. By equipping young people with knowledge and encouraging them to speak up and take action, we can help build safer, cleaner, and more responsible communities.

Looking Ahead.

The engagement at New Horizon International School is only the beginning. LARDIN looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the school and expanding its sensitization and youth-focused initiatives to more students and schools across our communities.

Together, we can empower young people, protect our communities, and build a cleaner, safer, and more equitable future.
