On Monday, September 7, 2026, the Limbe City Council hosted a strategic working session in the Main Building Conference Hall at Bota to review a major Municipal Solid Waste Management project proposal by Eco Valor Group Inc.
The session brought together city authorities, civil society partners, and key stakeholders to examine innovative strategies for improving public sanitation, urban health, and economic sustainability in Limbe.
Comprehensive Waste Valorisation: The project shifts the paradigm from simple waste disposal to resource recovery. The proposed facility will process municipal waste into construction eco-bricks, organic fertilizers, and recycled tire products.
Investment & Construction: Budgeted at 1.1 billion FCFA (including contingencies), the facility will take 18 months to construct once finalized.
Socio-Economic Impact: The initiative prioritizes direct job creation for local youths across the South West Region while fostering a culture that views sorted waste as a valuable commodity.
Civil Society Collaboration: As part of its commitment to environmental advocacy and community sanitation, The Legacy Action and Royal Development Initiatives (LARDIN) was honored to participate in the session alongside municipal leaders.
During the session, Eco Valor Group Inc. requested a long-term land lease for the factory site. In response, the Limbe City Council proposed a joint equity structure—offering the land parcel as the municipality’s direct investment share. This setup ensures that future profits directly support civic programs and infrastructure in Limbe.
The City Mayor of Limbe, Mr. Paul Efome L. M. Ngale, Ph.D., commended the proposal, emphasizing that introducing new green enterprise creates healthy competition and elevates service standards across the city.
The working session concluded with strong mutual support among city leadership, Eco Valor Group Inc., and civil society organizations, setting a solid foundation for the next stage of project development.
The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) noted that existing service providers currently capture under 50% of Limbe’s daily waste, making additional private-sector actors essential for complete municipal coverage.
